
Police are currently in attendance following a serious collision in Knotty Ash this morning (Sunday 10 October).
At around 4.50am we received a report of a collision on Pilch Lane, at the roundabout with East Prescot Road, where a vehicle had collided with wall.
It was reported that the car was on fire.
Emergency services attended and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the blaze.
A male and a female suffered serious injuries during the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and officers remain at the scene while extensive CCTV, forensic and house-to-house enquiries are carried out.
Road closures remain in place on East Prescot Road while the incident is investigated. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible.
Roads Policing Sergeant Simon Duffy said: “We are in the very early stages of investigating a serious RTC in Dovecot this morning.
“Officers will remain in the area and road closures will be in place today while enquiries are carried out to establish the full circumstances.
“If you were in the area of Pilch Lane and East Prescot Road this morning and witnessed anything or have any CCTV or dashcam footage then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to assist our enquiries.”
