Officers have issued CCTV images of two men they believe may be able to assist enquiries into an assault on Prescot Road in Old Swan.
At around 3.45pm on Monday 27 September officers were called to a report of an assault outside Nationwide Bank.
A man was punched in the head by three men then kicked several times as he lay on the floor.
The three men then fled the scene in the direction of Queens Drive.
The victim received treatment in hospital after the attack and is now recovering at home.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Ben Dyer said: “We have carried out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries and are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the men pictured or anyone who may have been responsible for this vicious assault that left a man with serious facial and head injuries.
“As part of this investigation I would like to hear from anyone who was near the bank at around 3.45pm and witnessed the attack or has any mobile and dashcam footage of the incident.
“This happened at a busy time of the day when parents and pupils would have been leaving the high school nearby, so If you have any information please get in touch.”
