We arrested five people on suspicion of firearms offences in Huyton on Friday, 1 October.
Officers attended an address on Colwell Street and arrested four men, one aged 23 of no fixed address, and three aged 33, 47 and 62 from Huyton, on suspicion of possession of a section 1 firearm. A 62-year-old woman from Huyton was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
All were taken into custody for questioning and have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Inspector Andrew Brabin said: “The arrests on Friday show that we will not hesitate to take action against those who seek to use dangerous weapons to cause fear and harm in our communities on Merseyside and bring them to justice.
“We will act on all information provided on gun crime to remove weapons and those who use them from the community. Please come forward with what you know, directly or anonymously, and we will do the rest.”
