We have charged a 26-year-old man following an incident in Knowsley on Sunday, 24 October.
At around 9pm, patrols on Knowsley Lane initiated a pursuit of a black Ford Kuga. The vehicle was bought to a stop by police at a roundabout near junction 2 of the M57.
The driver of the Kuga and the driver of a police vehicle were taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained during the stop.
Two officers and the passenger in the Kuga also suffered minor injuries.
Officers searched the vehicle, recovered suspected drugs and a weapon and arrested the driver and passenger.
Ben Duffy, 26, from Wigan Road in Leigh, Greater Manchester has now been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and receiving stolen goods.
The 24-year-old female passenger in the car has now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Duffy was remanded in custody and appeared in Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning (Tuesday 26 October).
