We are appealing for more information after a teenage boy was assaulted by a man in Anfield.
At around 5pm yesterday (23 September) officers were called to a report that a 14-year-old boy had been assaulted on a football pitch at a sports centre on Lower Breck Road in Liverpool.
The boy was approached by a man on the football pitch and punched several times in the face and then hit in the back of the head by his attacker who then fled the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment for serious injuries to his face.
The suspect was described as an 18- to 20-year-old man with blonde hair and a light brown beard wearing a black jacket, top and bottoms.
Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “This was a menacing attack which has left a teenage boy with serious facial injuries.
“We have carried out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries near the area and would implore anyone who thinks they know the suspect or saw the incident to contact police.
“If you were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the attack or have any information about it, we would like to hear from you.”
