We are appealing for information following a suspected arson in Norris Green today (Thursday 2 September).
At around 12.15pm we received a report that a silver Ford had been set alight in the car park at Broadway Market.
It was reported that a male smashed the widow of the vehicle, set the vehicle alight and made off on a silver moped driven by another male.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze and no injuries were reported.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation into a suspected arson this afternoon and we are keen to speak to anyone with any further information.
“Setting a vehicle alight is extremely reckless and we are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.
“If you were in the Broadway Market area at time of the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, please let us know.
“Likewise, if you have any CCTV or dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation, please get in touch so we can take action.”
Anyone in the area with information, CCTV or dashcam can contact us on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 21000610755.
