We have issued CCTV images of a man we want to trace following an attempted robbery at a shop in Kirkby.
At around 1.40pm on Friday 6th August a male entered the Stretford News and Convenience Store on Stretford Close.
He produced a machete from under his pants and demanded the shop assistant empty the till.
The shop assistant trigged an attack alarm. The male made further threats before leaving the shop empty-handed.
The assistant was not injured during the incident but was left shaken by his ordeal.
An investigation is underway and CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out.
We have issued images of man we want to speak to as we believe he could assist with our investigation.
Detective Inspector Leanne Hobin said: “Thankfully the shop assistant was not injured and was able to trigger an alarm but this would still have been a very shocking incident for him to endure.
“Robberies are not victimless crimes and people just going about their business and trying to do their job should not have to endure such behaviour. We need to find the person responsible and bring them to justice so they can’t threaten anyone else in such a manner.
“I would appeal for anyone who recognises this man to come forward and speak to us as we believe he could help with our enquiries.”
