A loaded shotgun has been recovered following an area search in Liverpool.
At around 11.50am on Saturday 18th September Matrix disruption officers conducted an area search by the steps at Everton Brow and located a rifle bag containing a double-barrelled shotgun.
The weapon is believed to have been viable and has been forensically recovered.
Enquiries are currently being carried out.
Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald from the Firearms Investigation Team said: “This is an important recovery as it means that there is one less weapon on our streets. The gun is believed to be viable and could potentially be used to cause fear and intimidation in our communities.
“We rely on community intelligence to discover where weapons are being stored and who is using them and I would ask that the public continue to be our eyes and ears.”
If you have got any information about the use or storage of weapons please DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
