We have arrested two men and recovered two weapons following an incident in Kirkby this afternoon, Saturday 21 August.
At around 1.40pm, emergency services were called to outside B&M on Norwich Way following reports of two men fighting. Both were found with suspected knife wounds, to their wrist and neck respectively.
Neither injury is life-threatening but both men (believed to be in their 40s) are being assessed and both will then be taken into custody on suspicion of Section 18 wounding, affray and possession of an offensive weapon.
Two knives were found nearby and have been forensically recovered.
A scene is in place and CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan said: “This will have been a distressing incident to witness and appears to be an isolated incident, the reasons for which we are keeping an open mind. Both men have been detained and the suspected weapons recovered, so there is no wider threat to the community.
“As we investigate, I’d ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw, heard or captured any details on a device to come forward. Knife crime can cause devastation to those affected, so also tell us if you know where such weapons are carried, stored and used in crime. We’ll take action on anything you tell us to keep the communities safe.”
