We are appealing for information following a car on fire in the early hours of Sunday morning, 24 April, in Haydock.
At around 3.20am it was reported that a red Fiat Panda car was on fire on Wycliffe Road.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and nobody was injured.
A joint investigation between Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police is underway to establish the cause of the fire.
CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Chief Inspector Paul Holden said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and still establishing how the car caught fire.
“As it was in a residential area I would appeal if any neighbours who saw something suspicious to please contact us as this information could be vital to our inquiries.
“I would also ask residents and drivers to please check you CCTV, doorbell and dashcam footage which may be captured how the fire was started.”
Anyone in the area with information, CCTV or dashcam can contact us on 101 or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 22000279314.
You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
