Detectives investigating a robbery in Kirkby earlier this week have issued an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with their enquiries.
At around 12.30pm on Wednesday 27 April, we received a report that £500 cash was taken from an elderly woman outside Lloyds Bank on Cherryfield Drive.
It was reported that a male suspect approached the victim when she was withdrawing cash at the ATM outside the bank. He was reported to push the victim out of the way, withdraw the money from her account and make off on foot.
Extensive CCTV, forensic witness enquires are underway and officers have issued an image of a man they believe could have information which would help their investigation.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “To steal from someone in this manner in broad daylight is utterly despicable and we are working to find the person responsible and put them before the courts.
“As part of our ongoing enquiries, we have released an image of a man we’d like to speak to who we believe has information that could assist us.
“We understand that he is wearing a face covering, so his face isn’t completely visible, but we are releasing the image in the hope that it jogs someone’s memory who could provide information to help us.
“We know that Kirkby town centre would have been busy on Wednesday afternoon and so if you were in town and saw this man, please come forward.
“Similarly if you were in the Cherryfield Drive area on Wednesday afternoon and saw anything suspicious, or captured anything on mobile phone or dashcam then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our investigation.”
If you recognise this man or have any information, please message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, DM @MerseyPolice on Twitter or call 101 with reference 22000287989.
