We arrested a man and recovered suspected drugs and weapons in Birkenhead yesterday, Thursday 28 April.
At around 3pm, patrols on Wellington Terrace witnessed a suspected drugs transaction between two males.
Officers then saw one of the males involved in the suspected transaction in a white Ford Focus on Whetstone Lane.
Police stopped and searched the vehicle and recovered a bag of white powder (suspected class A drugs), a taser, a Stanley knife and a quantity of cash.
The driver of the vehicle, a 42-year-old man from Oxton, was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs, possession of a bladed article, possession of a Section 5 firearm and possession of criminal property.
He was questioned by police and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Coast from our Wirral Targeted Policing Team said: “Thanks to the vigilance of our officers, dangerous weapons and drugs have now been removed from our streets and can no longer be used to cause fear and harm in our communities in Birkenhead and across Merseyside.
“No criminal should profit from the misery that drugs bring to our communities while law-abiding people work hard to earn an honest living. If you know someone in your area involved in suspected drug dealing please let us know so we can bring them to justice.”
If you have any information in suspected drug dealing or weapons being stored, carried or used in your community, please DM @MerseyPolice, message ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook or call 101.
