We have arrested a man and are continuing to investigate following a serious injury RTC in Croxteth last night, Wednesday 7 December.
The incident happened at about 7.20pm when a 13-year-old boy was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra estate near to the Showcase cinema at Stonedale Retail Park, on the East Lancashire Road.
Following enquiries, a 34-year-old man from West Derby was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was taken to a police station and remains in custody.
The boy, whose condition is described as critical, has been taken to hospital, where he is being treated for his injuries.
Detective Sergeant Amy Murray from our Matrix Roads Policing Unit said: "The family of the boy are being supported by officers as our enquiries continue.
"If you witnessed the incident or hold any CCTV, dashcam or other information, please come forward now.
