We have seized a firearm and ammunition following a warrant in Croxteth yesterday, Tuesday 6 December.
At around 7.10pm, officers carried out a warrant on Hebden Road and located a sawn-off shotgun and cartridges at the side of an address.
The items were forensically recovered and made safe, and detectives are now investigating.
Detective Inspector John Mullen from the Firearms Investigation Team said: “This firearm was stashed with ammunition and could have been easily accessed and used to cause serious harm in our communities.
“It is vital that such weapons are identified and removed from the streets. Our forensic enquiries continue and I would ask that if you have any information about who stored, held or used this or any weapon, come forward immediately and we will take action.”
