Officers investigating an unexplained death in Huyton are appealing for more information to identify a man who was found on Friday 28 January.
Emergency services were contacted at around 6.30pm following reports that the body of a man who was sleeping rough in the area had been discovered at a waste ground off Dinas Lane.
The man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Forensic examinations, CCTV and witness enquiries were carried out in the local area at the time of the incident and there are no suspicious circumstances.
A post-mortem will take place to establish the cause of his death whilst enquiries are still ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin.
Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan said: “Despite our extensive enquires and forensic examinations we are sadly still trying to uncover who the man is that was found on Dinas Lane.
“The man is described as a middle-aged white male, approximately 5ft 10in tall of slim build with short grey hair and a grey beard. He was wearing denim jeans and was carrying a brown jacket.
“I would appeal to anyone who was on Dinas Lane near or on Friday 28 January and may have seen or know this man or witnessed anything out of the ordinary to come forward as soon as possible.
"We believe the man may have been homeless and sleeping in a tent, he may be known locally in the area.”
