Three men from Liverpool who ransacked a house in Skipton and stole £4,400 worth of builder’s equipment, a van and jewellery worth around £1,250 have been jailed for over 12 years.

Dylan Hyams, 29, of Leadenhall Close, Liverpool, Kevan Walsh of Simonswood Lane, Northwood, Kirkby and James Whitehead, 28, of Barncroft Road, Halewood (pictured left to right) were each jailed for four years for conspiracy to commit burglary at Liverpool Crown court today (Friday 18 February).

At around 4pm on Thursday 4 November 2021 three men drove from Crosby to Skipton in a stolen vehicle before they forced entry into an address on Raikes Road and ransacked the house stealing several items.

Officers tracked the three men’s every move via their mobile phone calls and messages to one another as they travelled in a stolen car to Skipton.

CCTV footage in the area also showed the three men wearing dark clothing with hoods up running to the side of the address a short time later at 5pm.

Whitehead was spotted walking from the back of the house towards the parked van wearing workman type gloves, and clothes later found at Walsh’s address following a search at the property this year.

Whitehead, Walsh and Hymas were arrested on Tuesday 11 January 2022 in Crosby on suspicion of burglary and possession of a class B drug

Detective Inspector Paul McVeigh said: “I hope the targeting of these criminals shows how determined we are in reducing burglary offences. Whether they happen in Merseyside or other areas we will work with other forces to find those responsible.

“Being a victim of burglary can have a massive impact on the person and families affected. as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.

“I would like to thank North Yorkshire Police for working with us to put these men behind bars for their offences and I would continue to encourage people to report any suspicious behaviour so we can take action.

“We will continue to work proactively with communities and our partners to keep this progress going.”
