We are appealing for information following reports of an assault in Old Swan yesterday (Monday 31 January).
At around 7.30pm, we received a report of a man at the Navigator Pub on Queen’s Drive with a slash wound to his face.
It was reported that the man was involved in an altercation with a group of males in Springfield Park. He then made off from the scene into the Navigator.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries which are not life threatening. He has since been discharged from hospital.
CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are being carried out and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “We are working to establish the full circumstances of a nasty assault that took place yesterday which left a man injured, fortunately not more seriously.
“Knife crime can have devastating consequences in our communities and we are determined to find those responsible for this attack.
“If you were in the area in and around Springfield Park last night and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please come forward.
“Similarly if you were driving on Queens Drive or East Prescot Road in Old Swan and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything.
“All information you provide will be acted upon to remove dangerous weapons and those who use them from our streets.”
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with log 890 of 31/01.
