Appeal for information following assault on Old Hall Street

We are appealing for information following an assault on Old Hall Street, Liverpool City Centre, earlier this month. 

At around 2am on Friday 14 January, we received a report of an altercation outside Innside Hotel. 

It was reported that a female suspect approached a man and a woman outside the hotel and an verbal altercation ensued. 

The suspect was then reported to have assaulted the woman and made off on foot. 

A short time later, police arrested a 27-year-old woman from the Glasgow area on suspicion of Section 18 Assault, in connection with the incident. 

She was questioned by police and has been released under investigation while further enquiries are carried out.

The victim attended hospital for injuries to her head and face and was left extremely shaken by the incident. 

CCTV and witness enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police. 

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “We simply will not tolerate such violence on our streets and we are working to find the person responsible for this attack and bring them to justice. 

“While we have made one arrest, our enquiries continue, and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed the attack or with any information, to come forward and assist our ongoing investigation. 

“Our CCTV enquiries so far show that several people in the area attempted to intervene to stop the assault. If this was you then please come forward as information you hold could be vital. 

“Similarly, if you were in the Old Hall Street area in the early hours of the morning and captured anything on mobile phone or dashcam footage, then please let us know. 

“Liverpool is one of the safest cities in the UK – it has been awarded Purple flag status for over a decade and you are far more likely to enjoy a safe and enjoyable night out than witness or experience appalling incidents such as this. If you have any information, please come forward and help keep our streets safe.
