Police were in attendance in Old Swan and Croxteth yesterday, Wednesday 19 January, as part of our ongoing investigation into an injury shooting in Broadgreen earlier this week.
At around 9pm on Sunday 16 January, it was reported that a man in his 20s attended the Royal Liverpool University Hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and arms. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.
Following police enquiries it was confirmed that the shooting took place on The Green, Broadgreen.
Earlier this week, officers arrested a 48-year-old man from Liverpool on suspicion of attempted murder. He was questioned by police and has now been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.
Extensive CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are ongoing and officers were in attendance on Baden Road, Old Swan and Lindisfarne Drive, Croxteth yesterday as part of the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the shooting or with any information is asked to contact police.
Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald from our Firearms Investigation Team said: “We are continuing our investigation into a shooting in Broadgreen on Sunday which left a man seriously injured.
“Thankfully, while serious, the victim will recover from his injuries. But the consequences of firing a gun in a residential area could have been much worse and we are working hard to find those responsible and put them before the courts.
“We are appealing for anyone with any information about this incident, however insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Any information you have, or dashcam or mobile phone footage, could be vital to our enquiries.
“Whether you come forward to us directly or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, please tell us what you know and we will take positive action to make our streets safer.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident in Broadgreen or who has any information about guns being stored or used in their community is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 22000037155.
