We welcome the sentencing of two brothers from Huyton today (Thursday 20 January) who are the latest to be jailed for drug offences as part of Operation Venetic.
Michael Moogan (pictured on the left), aged 33, of Boundary Road, Huyton, and Peter Moogan (pictured on the right), 39, of Slim Road, Huyton, were both jailed for 11 years for conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
On Thursday 8 July 2021, officers executed warrants at addresses on Boundary Road and Slim Road.
Michael and Peter Moogan were arrested and £20,000 in cash was seized. They were later charged.
Operation Venetic came about after law enforcement officials in Europe managed to crack the ‘encrochat’ service being used by criminals involved in serious and organised crime to carry out their business. Michael and Peter Moogan used the Encrochat handle 'paleflame' to supply large quantities of Class A and B drugs across Merseyside.
Detective Inspector Chris Lowe said: “This is yet another great result for Operation Venetic and our work to find those responsible for drug supply across Merseyside continues.
“No criminal should profit from the misery drugs bring while our wider law abiding communities work hard to earn an honest living. I hope that Moogan and Moogan will reflect on the harm that they have caused while serving their jail time.
“Merseyside Police, along with law enforcement agencies across the world, will leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of those people who think they are above the law, and we will continue to target anyone involved in serious organised crime to keep this positive momentum going.
“We rely on our local communities to be our eyes and ears as part of these investigations and I would continue to urge people to come forward if they have information which could assist us.”
