Officers have arrested a male following a report of a robbery of a Just Eat bike in Kirkdale yesterday (Sunday 16 January).
At around 7.30pm officers received a report that two males had approached a Just Eat rider on Jennifer Avenue and made threats towards him.
It was further reported that the males assaulted the victim and then made off with his electric bike.
Following extensive police enquiries, the bike was later recovered in Fazakerley. Officers arrested a 14-year-old male from Kirkby on suspicion of robbery. He was taken into custody and is being questioned by police.
Sarah Rotherham, Community Policing Inspector for North Liverpool, said: “This arrest shows that we will take action and we will not tolerate anyone being assaulted.
“It is disgraceful that the victim was attacked as he went about his jobs trying to earn an honest living and had the very means of transport they use to carry out their jobs taken from them.
“Nobody should fear being targeted in this way as they go about their jobs, and we have stepped up patrols in the area. But we are also urging cyclists and in particular those undertaking takeaway deliveries to be vigilant following these incidents.
“The investigation is ongoing to look for the other offender involved in the robbery, and we would ask anyone who was in the Kirkdale area on Sunday evening who saw anything or anyone suspicious to come forward.
“Similarly, if you were driving on or near Jennifer Avenue and have dashcam footage then please review it and if you see any part of the incident or people you suspect may be the offenders, please let us know. Any information you hold could be vital to our investigation.”
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 0879 of 16 January
