We are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision in Vauxhall in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 24 July.
At around 2.30am, emergency services were called to Scotland Road to reports of a collision involving a taxi and a pedestrian.
Emergency services attended the scene and can sadly confirm the pedestrian, a 19-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The taxi driver stopped and is helping police with their enquiries.
Road closures are in place while emergency services attend the incident. We ask that drivers avoid the area and find an alternative route. We thank you for your patience as we deal with this incident.
We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of a 19-year-old man who has sadly lost his life following a collision earlier this morning.
“We have now launched an investigation into his death and his family have been informed. They are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers.
“We are aware that there was a group of people in area who may have witnessed the incident and we urge them to please contact us as soon possible.
“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or properties in the area that have CCTV to please contact us. Alternatively if you were driving in the vicinity I ask that you please check your dashcam footage that may have captured the incident and to also come forward.
“Every piece information is vitally important to our investigation to establish what happened.”
