Four people arrested after a large quantity of drugs and money seized in Liverpool

Four people were arrested yesterday, Tuesday 19 July, after a large quantity of drugs and money were found.

At around 6.05pm, officers stopped and searched a Vauxhall Astra car on Melrose Road, Sandhills and found a large amount of suspected Class A drugs and a sum of money.

The driver, a 55-year-old man from Kirkdale, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B drugs (suspected cocaine and cannabis) and possession of criminal property.

Following the seizure, searches were conducted at properties in Kensington and Kirkdale where officers recovered a large quantity of cash, controlled drugs and several high value watches.

Two vehicles have also been seized and further arrests were made.

A 70-year man from Kensington was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply of a Class A and B drugs (suspected heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis) and possession of criminal property.

A 64-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman from Kensington were arrested on suspicion possession with intent to supply of a Class B drug (cannabis) and possession of criminal property.

The four suspects are still in police custody and the drugs have been taken away for testing.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said: "These arrests were part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Drug dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children.

“We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Merseyside.

“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
