We are investigating following a fatal road traffic collision in Maghull last night, Sunday 10th July.
We were contacted at around 8.10pm following reports a male pedestrian had been in collision with an HGV truck on Northway close to the junction of Dodds Lane.
Paramedics attended the scene but sadly the man, who in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries and an investigation into the collision is ongoing.
Sergeant Steve Smith from Merseyside Police, Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Sadly a man has lost his life following last night’s incident and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
“We have launched an investigation into the collision and would ask anyone who was driving along Northway last night who saw anything prior to the collision or the collision itself, or thinks they captured something on their dash cam, to contact us.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to call our Matrix Roads Policing Unit on (0151) 777 5747, email [email protected], or DM @MerPolCC on Twitter quoting reference 22000491013.
