We have arrested a man following reports of an assault in Bootle.
At around 1.15am in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 12 July, officers were called to a report of an assault on Stanley Road
A man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after reports that he was assaulted by a group of youths in the area.
A 26-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody.
A scene remains in place on Stanley Road whilst officers continue their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said: “Although we have made a swift arrest following this incident, we are still in the early stages of an investigation into a serious assault which has left a man in a critical condition.
“If you were driving through Stanley Road early this morning and have dashcam footage of the incident or saw anything suspicious then please let us know. All information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”
