We can confirm police were in attendance in St Helens today, Friday 29 July, following the discovery of a suspected unexploded ordnance device.
We received a report from a member of a public that the device had been found in a garden at around 2.55pm.
The army’s EOD team attended and a cordon was in place as a precaution.
On further examination by the EOD team, the device was found to be an old World War Two training device which was safe and posed no risk to the public.
The cordon has now been lifted.
Thank you to local residents for their patience while this incident was dealt with.
