Two men arrested for drugs offences in Croxteth

A man was arrested today, Thursday 28 July, for drug offences after a warrant was executed at a house in Croxteth and drugs were seized.

At around 10am officers from Central Targeted Policing Team carried out a search of a property and found a large quantity of suspected Class A and B drugs (heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis).

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled Class A and B drugs.

Today’s arrest follows the arrest of a 19-year-old man yesterday, Wednesday 27 July, after a warrant was executed on Newlyn Road, in Croxteth.

A large quantity of suspected Class A drugs (cocaine), money and designer clothes were seized.

Both suspects have been released under investigation.

Detectives are continuing to investigate reports of two shots being fired on Kynance Road last night, Wednesday 27th July.

Our community policing team and Matrix officers are proactively policing the area to disrupt criminality and protect those living there.

Uniformed police are patrolling the streets and a mobile police station is on Willow Way so residents can pop by and chat to officers.

House-to-house inquiries are being conducted, and letters are also being sent to residents to reassure them of the police work being carried out and that we will take action from information we receive.

We are appealing to members of the public for information if you know about the use and storage of electric bikes being used where you live, as this could be vital in helping with our enquires in removing firearms off the streets.

Superintendent Diane Pownall said: “Enquiries into the shots being fired yesterday is ongoing and we are examining CCTV footage.

“We continue to appeal to people who have information on last night’s incident or seen anything suspicious to please contact us.

“We would also urge residents to get in touch if you have information on electric bikes being used in your neighbourhood, as this would really help in our investigation to seize firearms and bring those responsible to justice who would bring lethal weapons onto our streets.

“Thankfully there are no reports of any injuries from last night’s incident, but to fire a gun in a residential area is clearly an extremely reckless and dangerous act which could have led to tragic circumstances.

“So if you know anything, please tell us and we’ll take action. We rely on information given to us by the public, either directly or anonymously via Crimestoppers.

“Every single incident is one too many, and I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing everything we can to remove guns from our streets.”

Superintendent Pownall added: “This proactive policing supports the work we do every day of the year to tackle offending in our communities. Stop checks warrants, land searches and arrests take place all year round across Merseyside to remove guns and other potentially lethal weapons from our neighbourhoods.

“We work daily alongside our partners and within communities affected by gun crime, carrying out high-visibility patrols to gather information and reassure the public of the work ongoing. 

“Through all of our activity and with the public’s help, we have driven down the number of firearms discharges in Merseyside. The number of shootings has decreased by 66% from 125 incidents in 2012 to 43 last year.

“This has been decreasing year-on-year since 2019, from a high of 125 in 2012, to 43 in 2021 (down 66%). We want to keep relentlessly building on this success and ensure that guns being fired on Merseyside become rarer still in the future.
 
“But every single incident is one too many, and I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing everything we can to remove guns from our communities, and are determined and relentless in our pursuit to continue to reduce this number.”
