Detectives are appealing for information following a cash in transit robbery in Huyton today, Wednesday 15 June.
At around 12.40pm, offices were called to a report of that two men grabbed a cash box off a security guard at Crescent Service Station on Liverpool Road.
No threats were made or injuries caused.
A short time later it was then reported that a white van collided in to a lamp post on Elmswood Grove and the cash box with coins was left on the road.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
Chief Inspector Col Rooney said: "We are in the early stages of the investigation and are keen to speak to anyone who saw the robbery and the collision on Elmswood Grove.
"Please check you CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that might help with the investigation. The smallest detail could be the key to finding those responsible and removing them from the streets."
Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with reference 22000414011.
