We are appealing for information following a report a man was threatened and a window smashed in Wavertree yesterday (Thursday 2 June).

Police were called to Talton Road at around 4.20pm to a report a man had been standing outside a property holding what was described as a machete making threats to a man inside.

Officers attended and an investigation was launched into the incident.

At about 8.05pm the same day, police were called to the same property to a report a ground floor window had been smashed with a plank of wood.

There were no reports anyone was injured during either incident and officers are examining any CCTV in the area and speaking to witnesses.

Detective Inspector Cath Cox said: “This was a terrifying experience for the victim and they are receiving the full support of our officers.

“Thankfully they were not hurt, but they have been left shaken by the incident.

“We will not allow people to carry weapons and use them to cause fear and threaten others in our communities, and our work to remove knives from our streets and put the people prepared to carry them before the courts goes on.

“Every day of the year we carry out stop searches, warrants and open land searches to locate knives and ensure those who store, carry and use them are brought to justice.

“The public’s help is vital to ensure we can target our activity exactly where people in our communities tell us there are issues.

“If you were in the area of Talton Road on Thursday and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please come forward. Similarly, if you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage then please review it and if you see anything let us know.

“Tell us what you know about this incident and we’ll take positive action to remove those who use weapons to cause fear and harm in our communities from our streets.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or call 101 with reference 22000381454.

You can also call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111, or their online form at https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/forms/pre-form
