We can confirm that officers recovered a practice grenade in Southport this morning, Friday 24 June.
At around 10.50am, we were called to flats on Albert Road to reports of the item being found during building work.
A cordon was put in place and a section of Albert Road was closed while the incident was delat with.
The Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended and confirmed the device was a practice grenade and posed no threat.
