WARRANT IN PRESCOT -DRUGS.jpg

Two people were arrested and cannabis and a knife were seized after a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was executed at a house in Prescot yesterday, Thursday 9 June.

Officers from the Knowsley Local Policing Team carried out the law enforcement operation at around 9.30am at the property on South Avenue in Prescot.

A large quantity of dried cannabis was seized, as well as four cannabis plants.

A large zombie-type knife was also found in the property.

WARRANT IN PRESCOT -4.jpg

A 37-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman from Prescot were arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (cannabis), and on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in a private place. They were taken into custody to be questioned and have both been released under investigation.

Knowsley Policing Superintendent Karl Baldwin said: "These two arrests were part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets. Drug Dealing is a blight on our community, causes misery to families and often involves the exploitation of children. We are relentless in pursuing those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Knowsley.

“Our work to bring these people to justice will continue on a daily basis and I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”

If you have any information on the possession of, storage or use of drugs and weapons in your community, please contact our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’.

You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.
