Appeal 18.jpg

We are appealing for information following a robbery in Liverpool City Centre yesterday, Monday 28 March.

At around 4.50pm we received a report that a delivery driver was robbed and assaulted on Harrington Street, near Doran’s Lane.

It was reported that a package the driver had picked up from a jewellers in Cavern Walks was taken from him by an unknown male suspect.

The suspect was reported to have made off into a van which was waiting close to the Hard Day’s Night Hotel. The van was reported to have been driven by another male who was wearing a hart hat and face covering.

The delivery driver suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as white male, around 5ft, 8in tall, of stocky build. At the time of the incident he was wearing a high visibility jacket, hard hat, grey jacket, grey trousers and a face covering.

CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out into the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “To target someone in this way while they are carrying out their daily business in the community is utterly despicable and we are working to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“The area around Harrington Street, North John Street and the Hard Day’s Night hotel would have been very busy yesterday afternoon. If you were in the area and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please get in touch.

“It was also reported that two passers-by also spoke to the victim to check he was ok following the incident, who may have seen something. If this was you then please contact us, as information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.

“Similarly, if you were driving in the area around North John Street and have dashcam footage then please review it and let us know if you see anything.

“Whether you contact us directly, or anonymously through Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with any information can contact us by DM via our social media desk on Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ with reference 22000214661.

You can also contact the independent charity Crime stoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their online form at: https://crimestoppers-uk.org/give-information/give-information.
