We have issued CCTV images of a man we believe may have information that could assist an investigation into an attempted robbery at a shop in Wallasey last month.
At about 10.15pm on Saturday 5 February, a man entered the Shop Local store on Borough Road and approached the member of staff at the till holding a knife.
He demanded he hand over cash, before making off on foot empty handed.
The member of staff was not assaulted or hurt during the incident, but was left extremely shaken.
CCTV, house to house and forensic enquiries have been carried out, and detectives have now issued an image of a man they believe could help their investigation.
Detective Constable Stacey Richards said: “This would have been a shocking incident for the victim, and while he was physically unharmed he was understandably left shaken by the experience.
“It is completely unacceptable to target people who are simply trying to earn an honest living in the heart of our communities in Merseyside.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man pictured, or who witnessed any part of this incident.”
