Officers from our proactive #OpTarget teams have had another busy day yesterday (2nd March) dealing with drugs farms and seizing weapons in our continued efforts to keep Merseyside safe.
Over at Croft Retail Park, officers conducted a high vis patrol and took the opportunity to speak with shoppers to offer some reassurance following reports of ASB in the area.
In Netherton, officers from our Sefton team spoke with residents in Westminster Avenue. Here a number of weapons were seized from inside a property whilst officers conducting an open land search in the communal gardens came across another knife that had been hidden behind a wall. These were all seized and taken for further examination.
In St Helens, officers on foot patrol were approached by a number of eagle eyed children who said they’d seen a knife hidden in the bushes. Officers quickly attended and seized the weapon.
Later on, at around 7:40pm, officers attended an address on Wakefield Drive, Leasowe in attempt to find a 33-year-old man who was wanted on warrant. Whilst at the address, they noticed a strong smell of cannabis and decided to investigate. Here, they found a large cannabis farm being grown in the attic. Two men were dealt with at the scene whilst the intended 33-year-old was arrested for production of cannabis and drug driving.
If you know where any weapon is being hidden or stored, or have information on crime being committed in your area, don’t hesitate to get in touch and help us keep our communities safe.
