We have charged a 40-year-old man with racially aggravated assault, religious aggravated assault and two public orders following an incident at a takeaway in Birkenhead.
Officers were called to the takeaway on Bedford Road at around 8.30pm on Friday 25 March, following reports that a man shouted racial slurs at a member of staff before approaching the counter and assaulting him.
Following police investigations into the incident, Jon Bray, of Beckwith Street, Birkenhead was arrested on Thursday 21 April taken into custody and today (Tuesday 31 May) charged with racially aggravated assault, religious aggravated assault and two racially and religiously aggravated public orders.
He has been bailed to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday 13 July.
