Three arrested following burglary in West Kirby

We have arrested three males following a burglary in the West Kirby area. 

On Sunday 1 May, at around 3.15am, police received a report of a shed being broken into on Covertside, off Grammar School Lane. 

It was reported that the suspects made off without taking anything from the shed. 

Officers attended located two males and two pedal bikes (pictured) believed to be stolen in a separate burglary in the West Kirby area. 

A 15-year-old male from Rock Ferry and an 18-year-old man from Bidston were arrested on suspicion of burglary. 

Following further enquiries, on Wednesday 4 May, police arrested a 16-year-old male from Upton on suspicion of burglary. 

All males arrested have now been released under investigation pending further enquiries. 

Detectives are now appealing for any further information about where in the West Kirby area the bikes may have been taken from, to assist ongoing enquiries. 

Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “Burglaries can have a profound impact on victims and the arrests we have made this week shows that where we receive reports of burglary from the communities affected we will take action. 

“We are appealing to anyone in the West Kirby area who owns these bikes, recognises them or knows where they may have been taken from, to come forward.

“We believe these very distinctive bikes may have been taken from the basement of a building and the owners have not yet realised they have been taken, so do check and let us know if you recognise them.

“Similarly if you live in the CH48 area and have any information on burglary in your area, or footage on CCTV, dashcam or other devices then please let us know. All information you hold could be vital to helping us find those involved in burglary, and putting them before the courts.

“Since the launch of our dedicated Operation Castle in 2018, we have seen offenders sentenced to a total of more than 500 years in prison and seen burglary offences decrease year on year. Vital to this progress is information from those people, businesses and communities affected, so keep coming forward and we will take action.
 
“It’s also worth having a look at the different ways you can make your homes unattractive targets for would-be criminals. Advice is available on our website for locks, cameras and other measures to bring greater security and peace of mind.”
