Detectives appeal for more information following burglaries in Liverpool

Detectives are appealing for information after several burglaries from student accommodations in Liverpool took place between Tuesday 15 November and Saturday 26 November.

Three occurred in flats in Wavertree and Toxteth and a further seven occurred in houses in Liverpool.

Several items including laptops and MacBooks were stolen from the properties during separate incidents. Car keys and a Blue Fiat 500 were also taken from an address on Hartington Road in Liverpool.

Detective Inspector Steven Byrom said: “It appears that the offenders are attempting to force entry via windows. 

“I would like to reassure residents that we are thoroughly investigating each crime and doing all we can to bring these offenders to justice. Local policing are also stepping up patrols in the area and will speak to any residents who have concerns about the recent burglaries.

“This type of crime can have a lasting effect on the victims involved, from the shock and unease felt by having somebody invade your home, the inconvenience of losing property, through to the fear and psychological impacts. 

“If you live in the area and you know anything about the burglaries please check your CCTV and doorbell footage to see if you have captured any suspicious activity from Tuesday 15 November to Saturday 26 November. 

“Burglary offences have decreased year on year across Merseyside thanks largely to Operation Castle, an operation targeted at reducing burglaries, bringing offenders to justice, and ultimately sparing residents the anguish of being a victim of burglary.
