Further tribute and appeal following death of Norman Rigby in fatal RTC in Bootle

We are issuing a further tribute and appeal on behalf of the family of Norman Rigby, following his tragic death in a road traffic collision in Bootle earlier this month.

Norman, 63, was a pedestrian involved in a fatal collision with a bus on Canal Street, near to the Bridgewater Complex, in Bootle, at around 3.55pm on Monday, November 7. Emergency services rushed to the scene but Norman was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later.

Now a couple of weeks on, Norman’s son Sam, said: “On behalf of my Mum, Uncle and I and all of our family, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who has passed on their condolences at this sad time. It's been a real comfort to the family to know that so many people were so fond of my dad.

“We'd like to especially thank anyone that tried to help my Dad on the night of the incident in whatever way they could. On a personal note, I’d like to say how grateful I am that my Dad was with people who cared about him when he was in need. We'd also like to say a massive thank you to Merseyside Police, the North West Air Ambulance, Fire Service and ambulance crews and to our Family Liaison Officers who have been so courteous, kind, and informative over the last couple of weeks.”

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson from the Merseyside Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Norman was much loved by his family and his death has had a big impact on them. Specially trained officers continue to support them and our enquiries continue.

“If you have any information to assist our investigation, no matter how small, we would like to speak to you or and if you captured anything on dashcam or other devices, please get in touch.”
