We have issued CCTV images of a man who may have information to assist enquiries into a report of a sexual offence on a bus in Liverpool.

The offence was reported to Merseyside Police and occurred on Friday 5 August on a number 82 bus that travelled from Liverpool 1 Bus station, Canning Place to Liverpool South Parkway between 8.20-8.45pm where the suspect and victim left the bus.

Since the incident officers have carried out extensive CCTV examinations and witness enquiries and detectives have issued CCTV images of the man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Katie Coote said:  “Incidents such as these can cause real distress to any victim and are completely inappropriate. Everyone should be able to use public transport and feel safe.”

“This victim was left shocked and upset by this incident, and we are determined to bring the man responsible to justice.

“We think the man pictured may have vital information that could help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward as soon as possible.

“While some months have passed since the incident, any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries. If you recognise the man pictured then please let us know, as we believe he may hold information vital to our ongoing investigation.

“If you were on the bus at around 8.20pm on Friday 5 August or recognise the man then do let us know as any information you hold could support our enquiries.”
