Detectives are appealing for information following a fire in Moreton on Sunday 30 October.
At around 6.50pm, officers and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) were called to reports of a firework being thrown at a property on Pasture Road by a group of teenagers, resulting in a fire to the flat above a shop.
The suspects ran off towards the roundabout on Moreton Cross prior to officers attending.
There were no reported injuries, and CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Ruth Tickle said: “Thankfully no one was injured during this incident but there was significant damage to the entire property which will be hard to replace.
“The incident was extremely distressing for the victim involved and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry including CCTV in the local area.
“I would ask anyone who was on Pasture Road yesterday evening who saw anything suspicious or has any information which could assist the investigation to please come forward. Any information you have could be vital to our ongoing investigation.”
