We are appealing for information following a report of a burglary at a house in St Helens on Wednesday 31st August.
At around 3.30am it is reported that one of the occupants of a home on Hard Lane, a 15-year-old girl, disturbed a man she saw standing on the landing.
This male produced what is believed to be a knife and the young female retreated to her room and screamed out, alerting ither occupants in the house. Her father awoke to this and was able to chase the offender out of their home.
It was further reported that three suspects were seen running down the road.
No items were reported as stolen, and the teenage girl was not harmed but was left very distressed.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “This was an appalling incident for teenage victim and her family to have experienced. Thankfully she was not harmed during the incident, but she has been left very distressed and is receiving the full support of officers.
“I would like to appeal to residents to check their CCTV and doorbell footage to see if it may have captured anything which may help with our enquiries and contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice. If you have any information no matter how small or irrelevant you may think it is please pass it on to us as it could be what we need to identify the offenders.”
