Following the death of Her Majesty The Queen, our Chief Constable, Serena Kennedy, has issued a statement on behalf of everyone here at Merseyside Police:
“It is with great sadness that on Thursday 8 September we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the 70th year of her reign.
“We offer our solemn and sincere condolences to the Royal Family as this very sad time.
“The thoughts of everyone at Merseyside Police are very much with them as we remember and pay tribute to Her Majesty and give thanks to her 70 years’ unwavering service as sovereign.
“Our flags will be flying at half mast as a sign of our respect during this period of national mourning and our thoughts are with the many people around Merseyside who will also be affected by this sad news.”
