We are appealing for witnesses following a report of an assault at Birkenhead bus station on Sunday 23 April.
We received a report that at around 9.15pm a 14-year-old boy was waiting for a bus when he was approached by four boys who assaulted him.
The offenders, believed to be around 13-years-old and wearing balaclavas, made off from the scene when a vehicle pulled up and the driver shouted for them to stop.
The victim was taken to hospital by his parents to be examined before being discharged. No injuries were reported.
Officers are examining CCTV footage in the area and appealing for witnesses of the assault to contact police.
Community Inspector Daniel Greenhalgh said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young boy who was left very shaken and distressed, and thankfully he didn’t sustain any serious injuries.
“We simply will not stand by and allow people to harm and threaten the safety of others in our community.
“If you were in vicinity that evening and saw this incident then please come forward. I would also appeal to the driver who helped the boy to get in touch as any evidence provide will help identify the offenders.
“Tell us what you know about this incident and we’ll take positive action to remove those who cause fear and harm in our communities from our streets.”
