Fantastic first day at Grand National Festival 2023

Race goers attended in their thousands for an enjoyable day at the Grand National Festival 2023, Thursday, 13 April.

Our officers were on the course and across the city centre to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved.

 

Superintendent Matthew Moscrop said: “It was fantastic to see thousands of visitors at the opening day of Aintree, despite the blustery but sunny weather. Our officers reported that race goers had an enjoyable time and no arrests were made on the course.

“After months of planning this year’s festival with our partners we had the necessary plans and processes in place to deal with any incidents.

“Even more visitors are expected tomorrow for Ladies Day and so I’d like to remind everyone to plan your journey in advance, leave plenty of time for security searches on the way into the course and drink responsibly but most importantly, enjoy your day.

“Please remember to report any incidents you see to our officers who will be inside and outside Aintree. Have fun and look after yourself and others.”
