Criminals across Merseyside are being targeted as part of a crackdown on a range of criminality and anti-social behaviour affecting Liverpool City Centre.
This morning (Wednesday 26 April) eight arrests were made after 11 warrants were carried out across Liverpool under a joint police operation between the Northwest Regional Organised Crime Unit, Merseyside Police’s Force Intelligence Bureau, local police officers and investigations team to reduce “street-crime” including drug supply, child criminal exploitation, violence, theft, robbery and sexual offences.
Eight males aged between 17 and 31 from Liverpool were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A Controlled drugs.
Detective Chief Inspector Peter Stephenson said: “By using undercover officers in our city centre to disrupt criminals involved in drugs supply, child criminal exploitation, theft, robbery and sexual offences a significant amount of drugs have now been removed from our streets.
“We have been working hard behind the scenes to gather evidence and target any suspects operating in the City Centre to make Liverpool a safer place to live and visit.
“I hope these arrests shows how we pro-actively investigate serious organised crime including the supply and distribution of drugs on Merseyside and are relentless in its pursuit of offenders.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets. If you spot any signs that drugs are being stored or supplied near where you live please let us know so that we can continue to take action.”
