Prescot man arrested and drugs worth £100,000 seized

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences after officers seized a cannabis farm and suspected Class A drugs with a street value of around £100,000 in Prescot.

Officers attended a house in Prescot and noticed a strong smell of Cannabis. Following a search of the property officers discovered a Cannabis farm with around 25 juvenile plants, two large boxes of Cannabis bud and 10kg of suspected amphetamine with a street value of around £100,000.

The 25-year-old man from Prescot was arrested on suspicion of production of Cannabis and possession of a Class A and Class B drug with intent to supply.

He was taken to a police station on Merseyside for questioning and released on bail pending further investigation.

Chief Inspector Tony Fairhurst said: “Our officers work hard on a daily basis to take drugs and criminals off our streets to make our communities safer.

“We know that organised crime groups use drugs to fund their lifestyles and we want to be very clear that we are doing everything in our powers to seize these drugs, the associated weapons and anything else that goes hand in hand with serious organised crime.

“Together with our partners on the EVOLVE project, we are very much still a presence in Dovecot, Longview, Yew Tree, Huyton and the surrounding areas and we are determined to help those law-abiding people living in these areas reclaim their communities.

“Our work won’t stop and we urge anyone with any information about drugs or crime to contact us so we can take action against criminals and get them off our streets.”
