Appeal following serious road traffic collision in Wirral

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving two cars in Wirral yesterday evening, Monday 14 August.

At around 9.15pm it was reported that a blue Ford Fiesta and a blue Peugeot 3008 were in collision on Thornton Common Road, Thornton Hough.

Three people were taken to hospital. Two male drivers sustained serious injuries which are not life threatening, and a woman passenger is in a critical condition.

A 60-year-old man from Neston was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

We are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV, doorbell and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation. 

Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This incident happened at a time where there may have been people around who may have witnessed the incident, and we urge those in the vicinity to check your CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage as it may have captured the incident. Any information no matter how small could help the investigation.

“If you were passing the location and saw or captured the incident on CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, or believe you witnessed either vehicle prior to the collision, then please share this with us and we will take action.”
