Detectives are issuing a CCTV image of a man who may have information that may assist with police enquiries following a report of a serious sexual offence in Liverpool City Centre on Saturday 26 August.
At around 6.30am police received a report of a serious sexual offence on Fleet Street.
The victim, a young woman, is currently being supported by specially trained officers from our Unity Team who are dedicated to investigation offences such as this.
CCTV and witness enquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect, and detectives have issued an image of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.
Detective Inspector Alan Nuttall said: “Our officers take any report of a sexual offence very seriously and we are determined to find the person responsible for such an awful attack.
"We understand that incidents such as this will cause great concern and I want to reassure people we are conducting a thorough investigation to establish what happened.
“We think the man pictured may have vital information to help our enquiries so if you know him, please come forward as soon as possible.
“If you recognise him, or this image jogs your memory about any suspicious behaviour you may have seen when out on Fleet Stret on Saturday night please do let us know.
“If you hold any relevant information, CCTV or mobile phone/dashcam footage from the early hours of Saturday 26 August please contact us so we can continue to piece together the circumstances of this incident.”
