We continue to appeal for information following a serious road traffic collision in Fairfield last week.
Just before 4.50pm on Friday 25 August, we received a report of a collision involving a silver Renault Captur and a male pedestrian on Prescot Road at its junction with Lockerby Road.
The 72-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where he remains in a critical condition.
A 38-year-old man from Huyton, who was the driver of the car, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been released under investigation.
Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a serious collision that has sadly left a man in hospital in a critical condition.
“We continue to investigate this collision and would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch.
“If you were in the area and have dashcam or CCTV footage, let us know because it could prove vital to our ongoing investigation.”
