Continued appeal for information following death of man in St Helens

We are today, Wednesday 30^th August, continuing to investigate following the death of a man in St Helens.

At around 1.30am on Tuesday 22nd August we received a report from the North West Ambulance Service that a man in his 50s had been assaulted on Brookhouse Grove. He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries. He was spoken to at the hospital by officers and then later discharged.

The following day, Wednesday 23rd August, at around 3.30pm, the same man collapsed inside a property on Brookhouse Grove. He was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead.

The man has been formally identified as 54 year-old Philip Quinn, who lived in Brookhouse Grove.

A post-mortem has taken place and enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances surrounding Mr Quinn’s death.

Mr Quinn’s family is aware and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Pye said: “Our enquiries into the sad death of Mr Quinn remain ongoing.

“We are continuing to appeal to anyone living in the area of Brookhouse Grove who saw Mr Quinn between the 21^st and 23^rd August and has information which could assist our investigation to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

“We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry and have spoken to a number of people but would still ask for anyone who believe they can assist with our enquiries to come forward and speak to us.”

• Two men aged 54 and 42 years, and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder. They have been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
